Alumni Attend Energy Panel

On April 1, the Columbia Business School Alumni Club of Houston and the Columbia Energy Alumni Network organized a panel of four experts to discuss the impact of low oil prices on the energy industry. About 90 alumni and visiting Columbia students attended the event, held at the IHS offices in the Galleria area. Dan Carter (CBS, '06), President of the CBS Alumni Club of Houston, served as moderator of the panel, which began with Curtis Smith of IHS sharing an array of relevant pricing and investment data. Mr. Smith's remarks fed straight into an energetic discussion between the audience and panelists that included Ben Fink of Western Gas/Anadarko, Dorothy Marchand of BBVA Compass, and Rich Ruggiero of Baker Hughes. The event was part of a program supporting Columbia students’ introduction to Houston’s energy sector and was followed by a reception at a nearby restaurant, co-sponsored by the SIPA Energy Association and the Columbia Club of South Texas. Jing Xiao (SIPA, '12), Michael Didyk (CBS, '15), Renat Balandin (SIPA, '14), Asif Gangat (SIPA, '08), JP Yorro (CBS, '11), Meagan Casey (SIPA, '10), YenTi Geekie (TC, '10), and Theresa Quintanilla (CBS, '84) assisted in planning and running the event.
